How it works

How ShiftSee works.

ShiftSee gives you three ways to get shifts filled — from your regular weekly schedule, to targeted requests, to emergency broadcasts. All on one platform. All connected to the same trusted crew.

Before anything else

Start with people you trust.

Every shift on ShiftSee flows through a connection. Businesses and shifters connect first — by invite, by request, or by search — and once you're connected, shifts can move between you.

Think of your connections as your private, trusted crew. Your favorite line cook who subs on Saturdays. The housekeeper who's been reliable for six months. The dance instructor who covers your Monday jazz class. Connections don't go away. They compound.

The three workflows

Schedule. Request. Broadcast.

Workflow 1

Schedule your regular crew.

Your weekly schedule is the heart of your operation. ShiftSee lets you build it with the shifters you've already connected with.

  1. Pick a week. Pick a shift. Pick a shifter.
  2. Set the role, the time, and the rate.
  3. The shifter sees it on their end and confirms.
  4. You're done.

Good for: Your regulars. Your weekly schedule. The shifts you already know you need filled.

Workflow 2

Send a targeted shift request.

Sometimes you need one specific person — the line cook you've worked with twice, the bartender who crushed last week's event. Send them a direct shift request.

Here's the twist: they can counter.

If you offer Saturday 12–8pm at $20/hr and they're available 1–8pm at $25/hr, they can counter. You can counter back. Back and forth until you agree. No other shift platform in the world gives workers this kind of agency. It's why ShiftSee shifters earn more, stay longer, and show up on time.

Good for: Specific people, specific shifts, specific needs. When you know who you want but not whether the terms work.

Workflow 3 · Broadcast

Fill an emergency in minutes.

It's 4:37 PM on Saturday. Your dishwasher just texted: "can't come in tonight sorry."

You open ShiftSee. Tap Broadcast Shift. Set the role, time, and rate. Tap send.

Every qualified connected shifter in your network gets the alert instantly. The first one who wants it gets it. In five minutes, you've gone from panic to covered — and you didn't have to send a single text.

Good for: The moment that matters. When something breaks and you need to fix it fast.

The thing nobody else has

Your crew gets more valuable every month.

Most staffing platforms treat every shift as a one-off transaction. You hire a stranger. You never see them again. You start over next time.

ShiftSee is built differently. Every shift you run — whether it's a scheduled Tuesday dinner service or a 4pm Saturday rescue — strengthens the connection between you and your shifters. Ratings accumulate. History builds. Reliability becomes visible.

After six months on ShiftSee, a small restaurant has a trusted crew of 12–20 connected shifters. After a year, it's 25–40. After two years, it's hard to imagine running the business any other way. This is the moat.

The money part

Clean payouts. Clean records. No accounting headaches.

Payments run through Stripe Connect. After a shift is confirmed complete, the shifter's payment is automatic — typically landing in their account within 1–3 business days.

Every shift creates a record: date, duration, role, rate, gross, platform fee, net. Businesses can export everything as CSV or PDF for accounting, payroll, or tax prep. Shifters can do the same for their own records. No tax surprises, no end-of-year reconciliation headaches.

Coming soon: Employer of Record integration for businesses that want us to handle compliance in the background. Reach out if this matters to you.
